Thang Luu just accomplished one of the most impressive runs in Omaha 8 or better over the course of three years. In 2007 he finished 2nd of 554 entries, then in 2008 he won a bracelet beating out 833 players, and then in 2009 he beat a record field of 918 entries. This is truly one of the greatest poker accomplishments in poker history. In 2005 he finished 3rd in the casino WSOP event leading me to believe that he was a poker dealer before starting his career. Being a poker dealer, gives players a unique perspective as they see 1000’s of hands daily. Not only that, but they often look up people’s cards to see if they were bluffing and what they had. They might also be dealers at the high stakes poker game, giving them an even better understanding of the game by watching the best play and essentially getting free poker lessons. I’d like to see Thang Luu take down another Omaha 8 or better bracelet this year, that would truly be amazing!
