Tom Dwan VS Isildur1
500 1000 pl omaha, Durrrr, High Stakes Poker, Omaha Hi, Online Poker, Poker, Tom Dwan November 16th, 2009The buzz all over internet poker is Tom Dwan’s aka “durrrr” multi-million dollar losses to high stakes newcomer Isildur1. Late Sunday night at
Heads-up NL was really uneventful for the two players as most of the pots never saw the flop. The only pot of significance was actually the last hand between the two. Isildur1 raised to $3,000 pre-fop and Dwan called. On a flop of As-6d-Ac, Dwan checked to Isildur1, who bet $5,000. Dwan made the call and the turn fell Jh. Dwan again checked and Isildur1 bet $14,000. Dwan made the call and river fell the 2d. Dwan checked for a third time and Isildur bet $32,800. Dwan then check-raised all-in for $57,399.50 and Isildur1 made the call. Both players showed A-9, resulting in a chopped pot.
The PLO tables saw a lot more action and several big pots with both players taking their turn taking down some nice pots.
Dwan three-bet pre-flop to $9,000 and both saw a flop of 10h-Qh-Ac. Dwan bet $18,000 and received a call. The turn fell the Jc and Dwan moved all-in for his last $32,996. Dwan held Qs-Js-Jd-7s for a set and broadway draw. Isildur1 held As-10s-6h-5d for two pair and broadway draw. The river fell the 6d and durrrr took down a $119,991.50 pot.
Durrr took another nice pot a few hands later. On a flop of Qs-Js-8d, Dwan bet out $4,800 and Isildur1 raised to $16,000. Dwan made the call and action was checked around on the turn of the 7h. The river fell the Jc and Dwan checked to Isildur1, who bet $38,000. Dwan made the call and Isildur1 showed Kh-10s-6h-3d for air. Dwan showed Ad-10d-9c-6d for a queen high straight. Dwan raked in a $113,999.50 pot.

Dwan took the rest of Isildur1’s stack five hands later. The two saw a flop of 10c-2d-7d and action was checked to Dwan. Dwan bet $4,800 and Isildur1 raised to $16,000. Dwan then three-bet to $54,000. Isildur1 then moved all-in for $101,499.50 total. Dwan made the call and showed Js-10s-10h-6d for top set. Isildur1 showed Kd-Qh-10d-5s for a flush draw only. The turn fell the 7c to give Dwan a full house, and Isildur1 was drawing dead. Dwan took down a $208,998.50 pot.
Isildur1 took his share of pots on the other PLO table. The first resulted in Dwan shipping Isildur1 a buy-in. The pot was four-bet to $27,000 pre-flop and the two saw a flop of 3h-10s-6d. Isildur1 bet $54,000, enough to put Dwan all-in. He called and showed Ac-As-Ah-7h for aces only. Isildur1 showed Ad-9d-Jc-10c for top pair. The turn fell the 10d to give Isildur1 a set and flush draw. The river fell the 6h to complete the suckout for Isildur1. He was shipped the $147,591 pot.
Dwan shipped another buy-in to Isildur1 a few pots later. On a flop of 8c-7d-Jc, Dwan bet pot of $18,000 and Isildur1 re-potted to $72,000, enough to put Dwan all-in. He made the call and showed Kh-Js-10h-3s for a pair and straight draw. Isildur showed Ac-Qc-8h-2h for middle pair and nut flush draw. The turn fell the 2c to complete Isildur’s flush and Dwan was drawing dead. Another jack on the river shipped the $109,266.10 pot to Isildur.
The last pot of the day resulted in yet another buy-in being shipped to Isildur1. On a flop of 6s-4d-8s, Isildur1 checked to Dwan, who bet $14,200. Isildur1 called and the turn fell the Jd. Action was again checked to Dwan, and he bet out $46,400. Isildur1 made the call and the 6d fell on the river. Another check to Dwan, and Dwan moved in for $30,900. Isildur1 made the call and Dwan showed 10h-6h-7c-5h for an eight high straight. Isildur1 had been chasing a straight with 9d-8h-5h-3d, but backed into a weak flush. That weak flush was good enough to ship him the $200,999.50 pot and Dwan took off shortly afterward.
A very up and down day for the newest Full Tilt red pro. It does appear that Isildur1 had a bit of game, but at the same time, it appears he is also running well. Time will tell whether or not this is just “beginner’s luck” or whether he truly has the game to hang with durrrr and the other big boys. In the meantime, it should be a bumpy and fun ride.
