Jason Ho Scam

Posted by Poker Videos on January 31st, 2010

The poker coaching world just had a big shake up, and the story is going crazy in all the major forums and poker blogs. Jason Ho was a poker coach at the popular training site Stox Poker, and recent stories came to light that he was a professional scammer. Although he was somewhat knowledgeable about poker, apparently he was a losing players, and did not win $1 million or “solve plo cap limit Omaha”. It seems Jason Ho had a professional ponzi scheme in effect, and was using his credentials at Stox to pull it off.

Jason Ho is an eccentric individual to say the least, even for the poker scene. He is an expert at self promotion, whether he looks like an idiot or not. His scam netted him over 100k for the poker economy, so some people were obviously fooled. He would post pics of weird photo shoots with make up on and a hot Asian model named “Jade”. Unsuspecting poker players would join his “camp Macao” and pay up to 1k per hour in some cases.

Jason played under these accounts :
zenconcept
zen888
jadebling
babiekwai
lilbebi

Jason was so cocky about his scamming abilities he would brag about it on Oriental Community forums:

Not only would losing players seek his coaching, but winning players would too. They would go from winning 100k a year to losing months later. He would also get them to send him money to clear bonuses. Jason would also multi account by playing under their screen names. He failed to show up for 50% of the days of these “Macao” session, and when he was there he would berate his students. When they would lose, he would blame it on variance and or that they did not follow his advice.

A user who was looking up his websites, had a trojan virus infect their computer within minutes:

So be very cautious when visiting his blogspots.

Some threads paid for by the poker community

Jason Ho also has several liens put on him in UK from some other scam.

His Camp Macao being mocked on Poker Tube:

Jim Varmin of Stox Poker took immediate action to remedy the situation. He staktes on Two Plus Two:

Conclusion

We believe that StoxPoker has a responsibility to reimburse coaching fees for those that were introduced to Jason through StoxPoker and had a bad experience using him as a private coach.

I have been forthright in saying that:
• Jason was not vetted as other StoxPoker coaches have been. I let down the StoxPoker community and our other coaches in that regard. Coaches since Q4 of 2008 have all been subject to our formal QA process previously described before their first video is posted.

• StoxPoker could have acted as a 3rd party escrow agent for all funds involving coaching arrangements. That is already being implemented.
For the reasons previously mentioned in this statement, members that were introduced to Jason through StoxPoker and had a bad experience with private coaching from him will be reimbursed. However, there is shared accountability for those that continued to make payments to Jason for coaching. Therefore, we have taken this into consideration in policy.

We will reimburse for 100% of the first two payments for any coaching services with Jason and 50% of a 3rd. We will not reimburse for any payments after the 3rd.
Jason Ho Two Plus Two thread

So it looks like Stox cam back big, and is reimbursing people for coaching fees paid to them. Jason is still defending himself in Two Plus Two under the name : code7654321 .

Cyril Mouly Con man
Cyril Mouly con by BadBeatBoris two plus two

Cyril Mouly is wanted by international community for fraud. Cyril is known for being the new high stakes whale playing in Bobby’s room at the Bellagio Casino. Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey would lick their chops at any chance they could get to play him. Unfortunately this is all over now that he’s on the run. High Stakes rail birds were so pleased at the thought of this mystery man that they created a whole thread about him on TWO PLUS TWO and nicknamed him Le Frenchman.

When I heard he was a billionaire and playing the stakes he was playing, I did an hour or two of research on him. All I could find on him was an address in a French wine region. I found it odd at the time that there was no info on this mystery billionaire. This put up a huge red flag in my head at the time. Usually, if your a billionaire, there is going to be a ton of info on you on Google or elsewhere.

Here is translation from French website:

In the palaces of Las Vegas, Cyril Mouly is nicknamed the Frenchman Cyril. This poker player of 34 years of development are hallucinating about poker tables of the largest casinos in the world is actively sought by the Interregional Directorate of Judicial Police (DIPJ) from Bordeaux within a matter of fraud and laundering by organized gangs.

Passed through London a few months ago, Cyril Mouly is now extremely discreet. Struck by an international arrest warrant, he knows that all his alleged accomplices were arrested and indicted. 35 people have been arrested by officers of the Division of Economic and Financial DIPJ. 12 were remanded in custody.

A part of the Treasury

Cyril Mouly founded the company in 2005 IT Dealing in Strasbourg before moving to Paris. Specializing in selling advertisements from administrative directories and trade journals, the company contacted its customers by telephone. The lobbyists have been able to show convincing enough to SMEs but also large groups in France to obtain full payment of money from a very large amount.

SNR Bearings, a leading manufacturer of mechanical bearings of the Hexagon, headquartered in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), has lost almost 6.5 million euros in the case. In October 2007, its chief financial officer would have spent on advertising contracts on several thousand euros, then, at the insistence of lobbyists IT Dealing, he had signed orders to transfer close to 300 000. Model framework, the CFO has signed advertising contracts for three or four years … but this was only the wind.

The Company’s wines from Bordeaux and the Gironde (CVBG) to Parempuyre, was scammed to the tune of 350 000. Pharmaceutical Bouchara-Recordati in the Allier, which show a turnover of 115 million?, Are also among the forty victims.

“IT Dealing spotted the incumbents. Champagne producers have been defrauded, for example, “says a source close to the investigation. “Cyril Mouly pretended to be a part of the Treasury laid off and playing on the naivety of people canvassed, they guarantee the repayment of an amount identical to the bill. Here we touch on organized crime. ”

Initially, he handed out thousands of euros, but soon, he cashed the money and vanished with.

The police investigation began in 2008, following a denunciation of the People’s Bank of the Southwest and the ICC in Pau. In the prefecture of Pyrenees-Atlantiques, bankers have sounded the alarm at the sight of hundreds of thousands of euros on passing the accounts of two customers to be transferred to China.

4 million played at the casino

The investigation commission of the magistrate Cecile Ramonatxo the Interregional Specialized Jurisdiction (Jirsa) Bordeaux show later that these transfers were made by two accomplices, using false invoices to purchase electronic equipment and computer a company that was an empty shell, used for the sole purpose of obtaining the opening of accounts.

A few weeks ago, the wife of Cyril Mouly has been indicted. During the search of his home, investigators found bags and shoe boxes containing tens of thousands of euros and dollars.

Cyril Mouly, presumed innocent until he has been sentenced by a criminal court would have played more than 4 million at the casino between 2007 and 2008. During the same evening in Cannes he would bet close to 300 000. Cyril the Frenchman, long observed by the officers of the executive subcommittee of the races and games, has now disappeared. The PJ has lost track of him since he escaped to British customs.

Cyril is on the run.

Richard Ashby wins 7 game session

Posted by Poker Videos on January 26th, 2010

The first high stakes poker game after the new rules to the Full Tilt 7 Game went off on Wednesday. Since the blinds were lowered in the Pot Limit Omaha/No Limit Hold ‘Em game, the new games that went off on Full Tilt Poker was played at the $2000/$4000 HEROS tables. Regulars filled the table, including Gus Hansen, Cole South, and David Oppenheim. However, the 7-Game wasn’t dead. While the limit being played were at $1500/$3000, the heads up tables still got action. Two different tables went off between Richard Ashby and Cole South. The first big hand of the day came in a big Razz pot between Gus Hansen and Cole South. Although South picked up a scary card on fifth street, he continued to play back at Hansen and eventually took this pot with a bet on seventh street.

Ashby1

Our next big hand was from the heads up game, where Cole South picked up a Razz hand from Ashby on this hand.

Ashby2

While Hansen had just lost a large pot to South, this next hand shows South taking the rest of ‘The Great Dane’s’ stack.

Ashby3

Hansen didn’t rebuy into the game. This caused David Oppenheim to also sit out, killing the action on both of the $2000/$4000 tables. South and Ashby didn’t disappoint the high stakes fans, however, building a massive pot on this Omaha hand.

Ashby4

The two heads up tables were not set up to be epic matches, with both South and Ashby sitting on stacks of over $100,000 on both tables. Ashby quickly changed that, however. It was a big Stud Hi pot, with Ashby taking the win with Aces and Kings.

Ashby5

A huge pot took place in the Pot Limit Omaha round. Ashby made a bet of over $17,000 on the river and was quickly called by South. Ashby showed a full house, which was good enough to take the pot of over $60,000.

Ashby6

South got revene in this hand, but for a much smaller amount. A pair of aces were good to take this hand for over $20,000.

Ashby7

It didn’t take Ashby long to regroup and take the next big pot. A flush was good for this pot worth over $30,000.

Ashby8

Ashby continued his upswing taking this big Limit Hold ‘Em pot from South for the tune of nearly $40,000.

Ashby9

South finally got some revenge in this hand. A full house was good enough to take the pot of $30,000.

Ashby10

This ended the heads up play for the day. Ashby sat out, leaving South to lick his wounds. Ashby ended up being a winner for around $150,000 on the session.
