While players such as durrrr and Isildur1 have been garnering a lot of the attention from online railbirds lately, a player that has begun to rise up in the ranks is postflopaction, also known as Alexander Kostritsyn.

Kostritsyn hails from Moscow, Russia and has been playing poker for about five years. Until recently, Kostritsyn has been known more for his live tournament exploits than for his online accomplishments. In January 2008, Kostritsyn came out of nowhere to take down the Aussie Millions Main Event. He outlasted storied pro Erik Seidel to take the title and $1.45 Million in prize money.

High Stakes Online Poker March 2010

Posted by Poker Videos on March 27th, 2010

March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. While there are still a few days left in the month, several players need to do some serious work if they are to turn a profit, or in some cases just break even. The high stakes action is always in high swing with most eyes on Isildur1. However, Isildur1 is not even in the top 10 in either the biggest winner or losers for the month.

Let’s start with the big losers for the month. Cole South started the year off strong after winning over $3.1 Million heading into the month. Since then, he has went on a cold streak. Actually, a cold streak would probably be an improvement over the colossal iceberg that has been his game this month. In 22,388 hands so far, South has dropped nearly $2.7 Million at the tables. And people wonder why they think that PLO players are insane.

Patrik Antonius dropped over $1.3 Million this month so far over 423 sessions and 13,463 hands. Gus Hansen is down $835,534.76 over 26,423 hands. Zee Justin is down over $587,000 so far. Other pros that have dropped large sums include LarsLuzak at $442k, PostFlopAction at $334k, John Juanda at $313k and Mike Matusow at $292k.

Earlier in the month, posters on 2+2 were saying that Ziigmund looks an awful lot like the guy that sells the Sham-Wow. Well, I don’t think that Mr. Slap Chop ever made $2.7 Million bucks in one month. That is the amount that Ziigmund is up in just 12,728 hands. Urindanger is up $1.53 Million and Tom “durrrr” Dwan is up $1.199 Million.

Phil Galfond screen name OMGClayAiken took a big bite out of Isildur1’s ass earlier in the month but has given most of the $2 Million win back as he is just up $411k this month. In the “I’m better at data mining than Isildur1 category”, Brian Hastings is up $868k for the month. Speaking of Isildur1, he is up just $88,581.05. Odds are that number will be -$885k tomorrow, but at the time that this article was type, Isildur1 is up for the month. (Let’s not look at how he got there shall we?)

Other players that finished in the green include Billy “The Croc” Argyos who finished up $54,298. Jennifer Harman stepped away from the play money tables long enough to make $62,602 over 818 hands. Josh Arieh made $45k this month and BKiCe made $41,974 at the cash tables. Sadly, Phil Hellmuth was not there for him to suck out on at the river. Honorable mention for this month goes to a player called BrightGreenPoop. This little green poop machine finished the month up $31,240.15 over 1,093 hands. While we may never hear from him again after this month, anyone willing to play as BrightGreenPoop deserves a shout out.

With a few days left in the month, the leader board could still change. Ziigmund has likely taken the title for the month in money earned. Cole South can take some solace that Isildur1 is still playing. His yummy money as well as others will be up for grabs daily on Full Tilt Poker. If you don’t have an account, head over to the site and sign up. You can then watch some of the best high stakes action on the planet, and maybe one day work your way up to take money from Isildur1.

Tom Dwan VS Ilari Sahamies – Viktor Blom VS Cole South

Posted by Poker Videos on March 25th, 2010

Tom Dwan screen name ‘durrrr‘ , Ilari Sahamies screen name ‘Ziigmund’, Cole South, and Viktor Blom screen name ‘Isildur1′ go at it in heads up in separate Pot Limit Omaha matches. Blom took on Cole South on six different $200/$400 tables, while Dwan and Sahamies sat at two different $500/$1000 games. At these stakes, and with some of the most active players in the world, these games were guaranteed to provide some of the highest stakes action in the world. They didn’t disappoint. Sahamies took our first pot of the day, winning both runs of this $100,000 hand.

Ilari1

Dwan used an all in shove of $20,000 in this hand to force Sahamies to fold.

Ilari2

While Sahamies flopped two pair in this hand, Dwan made the nut flush, shipping a pot of over $110,000.

Ilari3

Top set was good enough for revenge for ‘Ziigmund’ here, winning a pot worth nearly $75,000.

Ilari4

In our first hand from the other match of the day, Cole South used a big bet of $18,000 to force Viktor Blom to lay this hand down.

Ilari5

Flopping bottom two wasn’t good enough to save Blom here, failing to double up and losing this hand to top set.

Ilari6

Our next hand comes from a Cap Limit game, where Tom Dwan lost both runs of a big pot, losing $30,000 to the nut flush.

Ilari7

Dwan made a straight on both runs of this hand, taking $40,000 from Sahamies.

Ilari8

Blom once again got all the money in here. Both players showed top pair, but South’s ace kicker was good enough for this $56,000 pot.

Ilari9

Sahamies won the final hand of the session, with two seperate full boats.

Ilari10

On the session, South was up about $150,000 on Blom, while Tom Dwan fell to Sahamies to a total of $100,000.
