ONYX CUP SERIES
Posted by Poker Videos on March 14th, 2011Full Tilt Poker has dropped a press release about a new high buy-in live event called the ONYX CUP SERIES. The Onyx Cup Poker Series is a series of live events in the USA, Europe, and Asia. The players accumulate points in every tournament they play in and the player that accumulates the most points is awarded a sports car.
The Onyx Cup Series is comprised of:
Six major events with tournaments ranging from $100,000 – $300,000
Only the top three finishers of each event get points which are then totaled
Prize pool estimated at $30 million
The series will take place on 3 continents. North America in Las Vegas, Europe (probably London), and Asia I suspect Macau.
There is going to be qualifiers on Full Tilt Poker into these high buy-in tournaments. Personally, I wish the qualifiers were invitation only to the top internet players in the world. The tournament’s nose bleed buy-in should limit the field to the best players plus some high stakes regulars that are billionaires or are at least worth ten million or more.
