Today, in a press release, an acquisition agreement was signed. This agreement indicates the online poker giant is being acquired by Groupe Bernard Tapie. The announcement was made by the managing director, Laurent Tapie.
The agreement comes with conditions. At the top of the list of agreements made, is the repayment of all of Full Tilt Poker’s players. Every player payment due needs to be made in full, according to the agreement. Additionally, the list of conditions include a favorable resolution with the United State Department of Justice(US DoJ). Problems started with this poker giant on black Friday, April 15th, 2011 when the US DoJ shut down 5 online sites and indicted them. The charges stem from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) a law passed in secret to protect US interests in the virtual gaming markets.
Groupe Bernard Tapie has more than thirty years experience salvaging fiscally distressed companies. As their specialty, they have acquired the Full Tilt Poker and all of its assets. Currently they have acquired and profited from more than forty companies. The most well known brand in their portfolio is the global sports equipment super giant, Adidas.
