Joe Sebok Blackmailing Online Poker Players?

A previously respected poker player in the world of Poker has taken steps to defend Ultimate Bet’s reputation in the worst possible way. Joe Sebok took the time to contact another regular poker player through twitter with a clear threat to him and his girlfriend. The choice has reflected poorly on Sebok and Ultimate Bet, who he works for, and stirred up the pot of chaos on 2+2.

Fatalerror

Based on information that is clearly seen on Twitter and in the forum, Joe Sebok sent a message to Jon Aguiar screen name Fatalerror that threatens to reveal personal information about him and his girlfriend if he doesn’t stop spreading Ultimate Bet hate. On the twitter timeline, he’s been backpedaling ever since. Many of his tweets indicate that he didn’t intend it to be menacing, however the words were very clearly such. An image of the Direct Message (DM) can be seen in the Two Plus Two forum; News, Views and Gossip.
In recent days there has been a lot of additional scrutiny focused on Ultimate Bet due to the cheating scandal. This has been stirred up because of additional information coming out around it. Until now, some players have received money back, many accounts have been seized and /or frozen while the issue continues to be investigated. The aspect that has many upset in the forums is that this company continues to operate as if little has occurred. Very little about the investigation has been revealed by the company itself, which only continues to indicate their direct involvement in the cheating ring.
When Joe Sebok signed up with Ultimate Bet, one of the things he indicated he wished to do was to find the source of the problems within Ultimate Bet. Although that has yet to occur, he is solidly attempting to protect the tarnished company. This was demonstrated by his actions in the conversation both on the main timeline and through private messages with Mr. Aguiar. It was Mr. Aguiar that brought the conversation to the knowledge of the online poker community.
Although there has yet to be a resolution to this situation, it is clear that the online poker community is watching it closely.

PokerStars Sunday Millions Winner 17 years old?

Posted by Poker Videos on March 9th, 2011

PokerStars Sunday Millions winner 17 years old?

PokerStars Sunday Millions is a weekly game that draws in the most competitive online poker players. This week an unusual result has pulled in the scrutiny of millions, a major newspaper in Amsterdam, and an investigative team at PokerStars.
A Dutch poker player by the handle of Zeurrr invested 2 dollars in the competition and came out with half a million. He battled his way through the field to land in 6th place, putting him among the best in the money. Naturally, his local paper wanted to congratulate him on this impressive success.
After doing extensive research on the forums, twitter and other venues, a journalist from Algemeen Dagblad attempted to contact ‘Jimmy Jonker’. From the research done, it was his name that was associated with several posts in the forums and on a twitter account. The reporter was surprised by what happened when they made the phone call.
Expecting, Jimmy and getting Jos Jonker was the first surprise. The next one came when Jos claimed he was the player who competed in the event on Sunday and cashed. As the conversation continued, Jos was either unable or unwilling to yield information about the poker game, hands or match ups.
This unexpected turn of events encouraged the journalist to dig deeper. Jos Jonker’s son Jimmy is 17. The PokerStars terms and conditions clearly state that anyone under 18 cannot compete or be awarded for winnings. The terms continue to show that anyone who provides false information to be able to play on the site also forfeits their winnings. Jos Jonker is 47, well over the required age limit.
This situation has yet to be resolved. As long as there is room for debate, there will be a lot of attention to this issue, all of it asking the same question ‘Who won the money?’

Former WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack is a part owner of Federated Sports and Gaming and will provide more of a background support role in the new league. One thing that will separate this league from other poker tours is that players must earn their player’s card based on recent performances. Only a handful of lifetime exemptions will be granted for this new tours. Season one events will all be played at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. More details on this tour will be released in coming months.

Russ Hamilton Melts Down

The mastermind behind the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal was recently spotted playing some $5-$10-$20 NL Holdem. According to a thread at TwoPlusTwo forum, “Slifdog” and “billysharkey” both were in a game with the former WSOP Main Event winner and billysharkey starts to excessively needle him. Eventually, Hamilton melts down and tells the following to the two players:

“You are a f_cking d_ck…. a f_cking dick. If you believe everything you read your are just stupid, just a stupid f_cking d_ck. You do not know what you are talking about, you were not there. You just read about it and think you know…”

The floor man came over and told the players to calm down or leave, and the players chose to leave. Hamilton has been spotted in recent months in live cash games, but this is the first time someone has revealed a major confrontation with the man who stole Millions from online players in the past.
