Jungleman12 VS Durrrr

Posted by Poker Videos on August 5th, 2010

A year and a half ago, Tom Dwan “durrrr” issued a challenge to the poker world known as the Million Dollar Challenge. Patrik Antonius was the first person to accept the challenge and the first match is still underway between the two. That has not stopped online poker sensation “jungleman12″ from stepping up to take part in the challenge. The proposal was made during a $100-$200 NL game between the two. This is how the conversation went down:

durrrr: ok gg
jungleman12: gg
durrrr: y dont u take challenge
durrrr: since u never lose to me
jungleman12: i will prob
jungleman12: maybe
jungleman12: isnt bt next or something?
durrrr: i can do 2 at once
durrrr: ship ivey 500k n we will work out details
durrrr: get my aim from someone
jungleman12: ok
durrrr: i wanna crank out at least 2 of em before london if poss
jungleman12: ill talk to you over aim before doing it
durrrr: we could obv play in like 2 weeks
jungleman12: k
durrrr: kk gg
durrrr: gl

Jungleman12 would make a strong challenger for durrrr in this challenge. He has won over $2 Million in winnings in cash games on Full Tilt Poker. Of course, Dwan likes his chances in the Million Dollar Challenge format. He stated, “I think all of them actually are better over-all poker players than me — by quite a bit; I happen to think in this one area, I might have a little edge — and we’ll see if I do.”

Essentially, anyone that plays the challenge must play four handed of either NL Holdem or PL Omaha for a total of 50,000 hands. If they are ahead of durrrr at the end of the challenge, they will receive $1.5 Million in cash. If they lose, they must pay durrrr $500,000. This is above any money they win against durrrr. At present, durrrr leads Patrik Antonius in the first edition of the challenge by over $2 Million after 39,436 hands.

As he hinted during the chat with jungleman12, durrrr is considering doing multiple challenges at the same time. Brian Townsend is in line to be one of the next players to take on Dwan, but we may see two players take a crack at the same time.

Of course, at the rate that the first challenge has went down, it may be a while before we find out who will win the next challenge. We may find out sometime around 2014.

Brian Hastings and Brian Townsend aka sbrugby post wins

Posted by Poker Videos on July 23rd, 2010

The big Full Tilt Poker high limit mixed games went off again on Tuesday. The first of the two big tables going off saw David Oppenheim take on Brian Townsend screen name ’sbrugby.’ The first hand we saw saw Oppenheim lay a Stud hand down on the river to Townsend’s $3000 bet.

Gus 1

The next hand saw a massive pot get all of Oppenheim’s money in the middle. Although he flopped top pair, he was way behind Townsend’s flopped top set. He didn’t get there, and Townsend won the pot for more than $50,000.

Gus2

David Oppenheim re-bought, and the games continued. This hand saw Townsend make a min-raise of an additional $1800, forcing Oppenheim to lay his hand down and leave himself with yet another short stack.

Gus3

In the Limit Hold’Em game, all the money went in on the flop. Oppenheim had a bleak king high and didn’t get there, once again losing his stack to Townsend.

Gus4

Oppenheim finally got some back in this hand. Flopping top pair top kicker, Oppenheim faced a big bet on the river. He made the call, picking off Townsend’s missed flush draw bluff for a pot of $60,000.

Gus5

This was enough for Oppenheim. Only being down around $20,000 at this point in the game, he opted out and left the table. Townsend also left, but it didn’t take long for both seats to fill. High limit pro Gus Hansen took one seat. As is expected at these limits, it didn’t take long for Hansen to find an opponent, as Brian Hastings joined him at the table. The first big hand played by the two came in this pot of PLO. Hansen made a pot sized bet on the turn, which was good enough to force Hastings out.

Gus6

Hastings got the better of Hansen in this hand with a raise on the river.

Gus7

Hastings won another big pot, this time in the Stud H/L round. Three kings were good enough for the scoop and most of Hansen’s chips.

Gus8

Hansen bought back with a big stack and won another big hand on seventh street of the Stud Hi round.

Gus9

On the sessions, the two winners were both Brian Hastings and Brian Townsend, taking home a little more than $50,000 and $20,000 each.

Jungleman12 VS durrrr

Posted by Poker Videos on May 9th, 2010

Jungleman12 experienced what can only be deemed his “best day ever” at the online poker tables. On May 1st, he took down a staggering $1,054,288 over the span of around 8,700 hands. While taking down a Million in a single day is not that big of a deal to some pros such as Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan aka durrrr, it is still a newsworthy event. However, the impressive part of this feat isn’t the fact that he won over $1 Million, but the fact he took over $600,000 of that win from Tom Dwan.

The game of choice for these two was $200-$400 Heads-Up NL Holdem. The two started with four tables and then moved on to six tables. The two moved tables during the session and in total the duo played on nine total tables.

The first two tables, Alaqua and Loleta were good to Dwan. He took down a combined $600,000 from the two. About $250,000 of that came off of two hands. The first table hand saw durrrr check-call bets on the flop, turn, and river from Jungleman12. Jungleman12 had flopped top pair with As-Js and durrrr called on the flop with 9c-8s for a gutshot straight draw. He hit his draw on the turn. At the river, Jungleman12 moved all-in and durrrr called to take the $105k pot and stack Jungleman12.

The next hand saw both go to a flop of 2h-3h-4s. Durrrr held Jd-5d for an open-ended straight draw and Jungleman12 held Ah-Qd for the gutshot wheel draw. Durrrr raised a $2,000 bet to $6,400 and jungleman12 called. The turn fell the Jc to give durrrr the lead. Jungleman12 bet out $12,400 and durrr flat called. On the river 2s, durrrr checked to Jungleman12, who moved all-in for $42,194. Durrrr made the call with his pair of jacks and took down the $124k pot to stack jungleman12 yet again.

Durrr probably had wished that these were the only tables that he played at because out of the nine tables, those two were the only ones he won at. To say that he got his virtual tail handed to him was an understatement.

Menagerie $94,088.25 over 167 hands

Bugle $125,586 over 179 hands

Spinal $333,239.25 over 699 hands

Box Canyon $170,033 over 1,363 hands

Tissue $116,862.25 over 1,349 hands

Casa Anita $87,610.25 over 1,261 hands

Clear Lake $287,814.30 over 1,059 hands.

The largest pot of the session resulted in a $169k pot on Spinal. Dwan three-bet with Qh-10c pre-flop and jungleman12 called with pocket eights. On a flop of 3d-Kh-8c, jungleman12 checked-called an $8,800 bet from Dwan. The turn fell the Ac and jungleman12 again check-called a $17,400 bet from Dwan. The river fell the 7c and jungleman12 once again checked to Dwan. This time durrrr moved all-in for $45,898.50 and jungleman12 made the call. Jungleman12 showed his set of eights and durrr’s bluff resulted in a $169,596.50

After his epic win on the 1st, junlgeman12 has run his winning up to $1,894,326. During that time, he had a session with Isildur1 where he practically broke even. Will jungleman12 be able to continue his run or will he drop his winnings back to durrrr or even Phil Ivey? To find out, check out the nosebleed stakes at Full Tilt Poker.
