Posted by Poker Videos on April 22nd, 2010

The biggest online poker games in the world have frequently featured both Tom Dwan screen name ‘durrrr’ and Ilari Sahamies screen name ‘Ziigmund’ in high stakes Pot Limit Omaha games. Tuesday afternoon was no different as Sahamies and Dwan took each other on in the $500/$1000 PLO game. It was to the surprise of no one that these stakes led to some massive pots. Tom Dwan took the first big pot winning both the runs of this hand with a full house.

Sahamies answered right away. When the two moved to a private table, the action followed as they got all Dwan’s money in on the flop. Sahamies flopped two pair and it held to win this $100,000 hand.

Ziigmund2

Dwan countered here. After flopping the nut flush draw, they got it all in. Dwan hit his diamond on the river to win the $98,000 hand.

Ziigmund3

Dwan again took a big hand doubling his previous stack here. This was the biggest pot of the day, worth nearly $200,000.

Another big hand followed as Sahamies took a $102,000 pot by flopping a set.

Sahamies used a big raise on the flop to take down this hand.

Another bold play won Sahamies another pot here. A $30,000 bet forced Dwan out, winning Sahamies the hand.

Ziigmund7

This is the point in the match where Sahamies took over. After flopping two pair, the hand held, winning Sahamies a $120,000 pot.

Ziigmund8

The biggest hand of the entire session came here. Top set held for Sahamies, who took a monster pot of $290,000.

Ziigmund9

Sahamies busted Dwan on the other table as well. A straight was all it took to win this $70,000 pot.

On the session, the final hands of the day said it all. Although Dwan was up, he lost it all back and then some, losing $200,000 on the session to Sahamies.

Posted by Poker Videos on December 10th, 2009

Phil Gordon interviews Patrik Antonius for 18 minutes about Viktor Blom aka Isildur1. In the interview, Patrik reveals some of the strengths and weakness of Isildur1 from Sweden. If you have been reading my poker blog, you will know Isildur1 just got taken for $3.5 million in 5 hours by Brian Hastings. Isildur1 may have disappeared for a while after this train wreck, but I think he’s sure to be back. Patrik talks about how he was constantly forces to make big decisions on multiple tables. Poker railbirds often refer to Patrik as being “super human” or “Super Man” in popular forums. In this interview with Phil Gordon, Patrik reveals that he even railed Isildur1, and he went through his own (Patrik’s) hand histories. I think this shows that Patrik is human just like us, but that he won’t just cry about his losses; he will research what he’s doing wrong and make corrections. Patrik has this personal crusade to become better, and this is what makes him “super human”. To listen to the whole 18 minute interview with Phil Gordon and Patrik Antonius go here. Brian Hastings would be the benefactor of the sickest session in online poker history. He would make $3,234,543.20 in just under 5 hours. This works out to $646,908.64 / hour and $1,261 per hand over 2565 hands. All the hands were in Pot Limit Omaha and were against Viktor Blom aka Isildur1, and played on 6 screens simultaneously. Isildur1 would be on major tilt, while at the same time running bad.

Viktor Blom aka Isildur1 would be left with less than 600k in his account. He could have left with around a million but begged Brian to Stay:

Isildur1: ??????????
Dealer: Brian Hastings has 5 seconds left to act
Brian Hastings: getting very tired…
Dealer: Hand #16648979788 has been canceled
Brian Hastings: i feel bad quitting tho
Brian Hastings: would be be cool w/ playing someone else?
Isildur1: just f off

Brian Hastings: but im rly tired
Isildur1: k 30 mins more

It could be that Brian Hastings was staked by Brian Townsend and Cole South, but that is just a guess. Or they may have pooled all their money together to take on the Swede. Regardless, It doesn’t look like Isildur1 will be able to play $500 1000 for quite some time. On the other hand, It looks like Brian Hastings will be shopping for a new ride and some threads in the next day or two. This will go down as one of the greatest heads up poker matches in the history of poker.
