Brian Townsend is well known in poker for many reasons. Many know him as a high stakes pro on Full Tilt Poker. Others know him as an instructor on Cardrunners.com. Even more know him as the man that helped to bring down Viktor Blom screen name Isildur1. Hailing from Santa Barbara, California, this pro has put together quite a resume for himself.

Brian Townsend

Unlike many current players, Townsend chose to complete his education before moving on to poker. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California – Santa Barbara. Townsend first started playing poker in 2005. He started out playing low limit Limit Holdem and moved up the limits before switching his game to NL Holdem in 2006. Within a year, he was playing at the highest limits online. Townsend officially turned pro in September of 2006. He now regularly plays $200-$400 NL Holdem and PL Omaha on Full Tilt. Townsend is also a member of Cardrunners.com, which is a poker training site ran by several successful online poker players. He also keeps a blog of his exploits on the site.

Tom Dwan blogging now at Full Tilt Poker

Posted by Poker Videos on November 13th, 2009

Tom Dwan is officially blogging now! Tom dwan aka Durrrr has a loyal fan base, and now they can follow his every move. In his first blog he talks about skydiving and a helicopter trip to a Jay-Z concert. The durrrr blog will be great for railbirds who want to get into the mind of one of the best online poker players in the world.

Tom Dwan was just signed by Full Tilt Poker in a mega deal, making him a full fledged Full Tilt team member and red pro. The announcement was made in Las Vegas at a press conference held by Full Tilt Poker earlier this week.

Durrrr has more challenges coming up on the horizon with the Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge TV Show. the TV show pits durrrr against Ilari Sahamies aka Ziignmund, Marcello Marigliano “Luckexpress”, and Sammy George “any two”.

It should be interesting to follow the Durrrr blog because he mentions Isuldur1 who hes been having a bit of trouble with in the ultra high stakes games. Perhaps we will find out the real name of Isuldur1 from Sweden?

I’m interested to hear about Tom Dwan’s strategy from his blog. Howard Lederer said they signed him as a team member because of his love of the game, and how he loves to spread his knowledge of poker to others. You can see on Poker After Dark, how eager he is to talk about each pot and what he would or wouldn’t fold, and what bet it would take him to lay down his cards. Those kind of poker tips are worth hundreds of thousands, because to learn that kid of info, that’s how much you have to lose.

Tom Dwan has already landed in our “Greatest Poker Players of All Time” segment and hes only 23 years old.

Dutch Boyd domain scandal

Posted by Poker Videos on August 9th, 2008

There is new controversy concerning Dutch Boyd, after all his past issues with his failed poker room, “Pokerspot.com”, where he owed players thousands of dollars and never paid them back.

Well now there is someone in a forum claiming Dutch owes him upwards of $31,000 (just 1 more thousand than the Steve Ware controversy). I have Pm’d the guy several times to get his side of the story and find out whether or not Russel Boyd AKA. Dutch Boyd has paid him for the $31,000 domain. Apparently this situation has been going on for weeks without resolution.
The German man has already contacted his lawyer to serve Dutch Boyd legal papers.

I will try to contact Dutch Boyd or his brother to see if this is true, or if it is maybe sort of mistake. Hopefully there was just an innocent mix up.

Steve Ware has at least come clean and admitted he is wrong. If this is true that Dutch Boyd ripped this guy of for 31k, it’s no laughing matter. It puts another black smear on poker players and poker affiliates. This just doesn’t happen in the poker or gambling world, it happens all over.
Dutch boyd domain scam

As I was finishing this article, I got this message from a person who was allegedly ripped off or had a domain not sell because Dutch Boyd bid on it, won, and did not pay:
Hello xxxxx,

I was in a manic episode and was committed to a mental hospital two days after making the bid for the domain name. I don’t even remember making the bid. I made several attempts at resolving this with Sedo. Bottom line is this… I don’t have $30k. Do what you want to do legally, but you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip and I don’t have it. I probably will in the future and if you’re looking for specific performance, I’d love to buy the domain when I have the money… but honestly, what legal damages can you really claim? I’m not afraid of a lawsuit. I do want this resolved and want you to walk away without hard feelings because I don’t need the bad karma. But I don’t have $30k. I don’t even have close to that. So what do you want to do?
