Brian Hastings and Brian Townsend aka sbrugby post wins

Posted by Poker Videos on July 23rd, 2010

The big Full Tilt Poker high limit mixed games went off again on Tuesday. The first of the two big tables going off saw David Oppenheim take on Brian Townsend screen name ’sbrugby.’ The first hand we saw saw Oppenheim lay a Stud hand down on the river to Townsend’s $3000 bet.

Gus 1

The next hand saw a massive pot get all of Oppenheim’s money in the middle. Although he flopped top pair, he was way behind Townsend’s flopped top set. He didn’t get there, and Townsend won the pot for more than $50,000.

Gus2

David Oppenheim re-bought, and the games continued. This hand saw Townsend make a min-raise of an additional $1800, forcing Oppenheim to lay his hand down and leave himself with yet another short stack.

Gus3

In the Limit Hold’Em game, all the money went in on the flop. Oppenheim had a bleak king high and didn’t get there, once again losing his stack to Townsend.

Gus4

Oppenheim finally got some back in this hand. Flopping top pair top kicker, Oppenheim faced a big bet on the river. He made the call, picking off Townsend’s missed flush draw bluff for a pot of $60,000.

Gus5

This was enough for Oppenheim. Only being down around $20,000 at this point in the game, he opted out and left the table. Townsend also left, but it didn’t take long for both seats to fill. High limit pro Gus Hansen took one seat. As is expected at these limits, it didn’t take long for Hansen to find an opponent, as Brian Hastings joined him at the table. The first big hand played by the two came in this pot of PLO. Hansen made a pot sized bet on the turn, which was good enough to force Hastings out.

Gus6

Hastings got the better of Hansen in this hand with a raise on the river.

Gus7

Hastings won another big pot, this time in the Stud H/L round. Three kings were good enough for the scoop and most of Hansen’s chips.

Gus8

Hansen bought back with a big stack and won another big hand on seventh street of the Stud Hi round.

Gus9

On the sessions, the two winners were both Brian Hastings and Brian Townsend, taking home a little more than $50,000 and $20,000 each.

Isildur1 VS Brian Townsend Part II

Posted by Poker Videos on December 7th, 2009

After spending the last week getting his teeth kicked in, Viktor BlomFull Tilt Poker. He booked a win of around $1.6 Million to recoup a good chunk of his loses VS Brian. Most of his winnings came against Brian Townsend. Isildur1 was taking big pots all day.
Isildur1 241k pot

The following hand was a prime example of some of the big confrontations that went on between the two. In this hand, Townsend had $120,700 to start with and had the entire stack in on the turn. At the turn, the board read 6h-3d-7d-7c. Townsend held 9c-9h-10s-7s for trip sevens. Isildur1 held Js-8d-6d-6c for sixes full. A river Qd sent the $241,399.50 pot to Isildur1.

Isildur1 250k pot

Townsend dropped another 124k in the following hand. On a flop of Qs-2h-As, Townsend bet $21,000 and received a call. The turn 6h prompted Townsend to bet pot, which left him about $5k behind. Isildur1 raised to put him Townsend all-in and he called. Isildur1 showed Kh-Qh-6d-2d for two pair and Townsend showed Ad-Kc-Jd-10h for top pair and broadway draw. The river fell the 9h and Isildur1 takes down a quarter of a million dollar pot.

Isildur1 suckout

Townsend had a flopped straight outdrawn by a flush on the river to lose a $242k pot.
The following hand, Townsend didn’t even bother to show his hand. Isildur1 made the nut flush on the turn to take a $204k pot. One can only assume that Townsend had a wheel.

Isildur1 flush

Isildur1 came out winner on just about everything he touched today. He finished up $486,521.30 in the $300-$600 NL Holdem heads-up games over 2,573 hands. Over 1,462 hands, he finished up a staggering $782,559.50 in the $300-$600 PLO 6-Max. He finished up $305,324 in the $200-$400 PLO heads-up games. He also picked up $87k in the $100-$200 PLO 6 Max and $20k in the $50-$100 PLO 6-Max. His only losing session was in the $100-$200 PLO heads-up, where he dropped a mere $20,701.
After today’s action, Isildur1 is still down, but only $614,421. While that is still a far cry from the $5 Million he was up last month, it is still much better than the $1.9 Million he was down to start the day. Is this the beginning of a massive rebound for Isildur1 or is it just a momentary reprieve from his downward spiral?
