Viktor Blom VS Daniel Cates

Viktor Blom screen name Isildur1 would take on Daniel Cates screen name W00ki3z on Pokerstars (jungleman12 on Full Tilt Poker) in the Pokerstars Superstar Showdown III. Both players are arguably in the top 5 No Limit Holdem heads up players of all time. W00ki3z would utilize a small ball style vs Isildur1 and Isildur1 would counter it in his normal fashion of betting 3.5 x the $200.00 min raise.

This is not the first time these two high stakes poker players played each other heads up. Jungleman12 took big losses to Isildur1 at Full Tilt Poker. I think it was to the tune of 500k… Today Viktor Blom would be victorious once again but only for about 51k. It was a much needed win for the high stakes pro with his bankroll so low.

Please note that missing from the pics and hand history below is the largest hand of the match for 49k where Isildur1 hit broadway on river and W00ki3z hit 2 pair.

Hand 4 would be the other pivotal hand in the match giving Isilidur1 the nut flush and W00ki3z a big river cooler.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure kicked off on Thursday at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas with the $100,000 buy-in Super High Rollers Event. This event will pay five players with a prizepool of $3.743 Million. First place will receive $1.5 Million.

While there were many big names in the field, most of those names were among the younger superstars in poker. Among those in the field included WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel, Cardplayer and WPT Player of the Year Tom Marchese, David Benyamine, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Vicktor Blom, and Daniel Cates “Jungleman12″.

Daniel Negreanu was 2nd in chips to finish Day 1 and was looking for his first final table of 2011. As Day 2 drug on, Negreanu continued to chip up and would ultimately make the final table of the event. The final table of this event was supposed to be eight-handed, but both Daniel Cates and James Obst were eliminated at the final table bubble to take us to a seven-handed final. In other news, there are rumors circulating that Daniel Negreanu will be the next player to step up and take on Isildur1 in the PokerStars Superstar Showdown. Both Isaac Haxton and Tony G have faced off with the mysterious swede with Isildru1 splitting the matches. Negreanu had been quoted before the beginning of the Tony G match that he did not feel that he was ready to play four handed NL or Omaha against Isildru1, but did offer to play four handed in mixed games at $400 – $800.

Speaking of Isildur1, the announcement has been made that his identity will be officially confirmed on Saturday. While many have speculated that Viktor Blom is indeed Isildur1, an official announcement has been delayed. Chances are that Blom will indeed be revealed to be the superstar online baller, but should he turn out to not be the man that took Millions from Tom “durrrr” Dwan, it will certainly rank as one of the bigger surprises of the year.

They would start on 3 screens and Isildur1 would have the advantage. Tony G seemed like an old man on dial up. They went down to 2 of Omaha and Tony G would make a comeback and talk some smack:
