The new world record for the largest online pot of all time

Posted by info on October 26th, 2008

Back on September 12th, Patatino set the all-time record for the largest pot won online at $609,730. That record stood for over a month, but in one night, that record was not only overtaken, but overtaken four times. Action at RailHeaven was insane last night seeing Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan “durrrr”, John Juanda, Gus Hansen, Sam Keluparo “LarsLuzak” , and elmariachimacho all seeing action.
John Juanda Photo
Durrrr was the first player to set the all-time record last night in a pot involving LarsLuzak. LarsLuzak made a smallish raise to $3,000 and durrrr called. The flop fell 9c-5d-2s and durrrr check to LarsLuzak who bet out $4,000. Durrrr made a raise to $12,700 and LarsLuzak made the call. The turn fell the Ac and durrrr bet out $24,700. LarsLuzak called.

The river fell the 7h and durrrr bet out $68,700. LarsLuzak then decided to move all-in for $270,832.25. Durrrr went into the tank for a bit but finally made the call. Durrrr showed Ad-9d for top two pair and LarsLuzak showed 6d-4s for air. Durrrr happily accepted the gift of chips from LarsLuzak and raked the pot of $617,968.

The new world record for the largest online pot of all time lasted 5 hours this time. John Juanda would be the new world record holder in a big hand against durrrr. Preflop, Juanda raised to $14,500 and durrrr reraised to $43,800. Juanda then three-bets to $137,400. Durrrr wastes no time moving all-in for $338,503.50. Juanda made the call. Durrrr had Juanda dominated with pocket aces and Juanda had pocket kings. The flop fell a rainbow Q-6-4 and durrrr was well in front. A jack on the turn helped neither player. Just when it looked like durrrr would break his own record, a river king hit the board and John Juanda took the $678,069 pot and the new world record.

John Juanda probably also set the record for shortest all-time record holder as Phil Ivey set the record again in about 2 ½ minutes after Juanda. Preflop, Juanda raised to $4,500 and durrrr was all in for $1,967.50 making the call. Ivey raised to $16,967.50 and Juanda raised to $54,370. The flop fell Ac-5s-10s and Juanda bet out $112,207.50 and Ivey moved all-in for $287,408.50. Juanda made the call and showed Ks-8s for a flush draw. Ivey showed pocket 10’s for a set of 10’s and durrrr showed Qc-7c for air. The turn and river missed all players and Ivey set the new world record taking in a total pot of $687,024.50.

Juanda’s record lasted slightly longer than durrrr’s at just over 8 hours. Di Dang “Urindanger” would set the record in another hand that saw durrrr as the victim again. Preflop, Dang reraised durrrr to $45,000 total and durrrr made the call. On a flop of 5c-9h-4h, Dang bet out $52,700 and durrrr raised to $139,500. Dang moved all-in for $314,970.50 total and durrrr made the call. Durrrr would be behind this time as his pocket kings had run into the aces of Dang. The turn fell the 3d, which actually gave Dang a wheel draw to go with his aces. Durrrr was unable to spike a miracle king and Dang pulled in a $723,938 pot.

Action was hot an heavy throughout the night on RailHeaven. At one point Tom Dwan was actually down $1.4 Million at one point but finished the night nearly at break even. Although he was not involved in any record setting pots, Phil Ivey was the big winner of the night, nearly pulling in $800,000 at the tables. The biggest loser was elmariachimacho. He lost around $800,000 at the tables during the session.

Last night’s session is being hailed as one of the largest online session in the history of online poker. It appears that RailHeaven has become the Bobby’s Room of the online world for No Limit Holdem players.

High Stakes Poker at Full Tilt for first half of September 2008

Posted by info on October 19th, 2008

This past week’s high stakes action did not produce the massive pots of the past week, but there was still plenty of action, including a $1 Million winner. Patrik Antonius finished the week ahead over $1.2 Million over 75 sessions played during the week. Zilgmund was a close second with over $993,000 in wins. Hac “trex13” Dang was a distant third with over $314,000 in wins. John Juanda and Gus Hansen broke the quarter million in wins.

How to become a millonaire in 3 hours-4

Ugadabugada had a tough week online, losing over $672,000 over 2236 hands. Slaktarn recently won the 25k PLO Heads-Up World Championship but gave the money won in that event back this week in the cash games. He finished down over $564,000. David Benyamine and Phil Ivey both had down weeks online as well. Benyamine lost $292,000 while Ivey was a $338,000 loser. The biggest loser per sessions played was elmariachimacho. He only played 2 sessions lasting 149 hands and dropped $300,000. The equated to him losing $2,013 per hand.

Phil Ivey and David Benyamine won 6 of the 10 largest pots of the week. To put Phil Ivey’s week in perspective, on Thursday he won the Million Dollar Cash Game hosted by Full Tilt. This posted a $536,400 win for him. One of Ivey’s targets during that cash game was Tom “Durrrr” Dwan. Online play mimicked his live play, as Ivey took $500,000 off Dwan in the span of an hour playing PLO heads-up online.

The first hand between the two saw Ivey make a third pot raise to $27,000 preflop. Tom Dwan called and the flop fell of 3d-5s-9s. Dwan bet out $54,000 and Ivey fired a raise to $108,000. Durrrr called all-in for $43,144.50. Ivey showed As-Ad-2d-Qs for aces and both the nut flush draw and wheel draw. Dwan showed 7s-Qh-8h-6d for the higher straight draw. The turn fell the 2h, which helped neither player. A 5c on the river gave the first heads up pot to Ivey with aces up. The pot was worth $248,289.

The second large hand between the two occurred less than an hour later. Durrrr made a small raise to $3,000 and Ivey made the call. The flop fell 10s-3d-5s and a raising war ensued between the two. Dwan bet out $4,600. Ivey raised to $19,800. Dwan then reraised to $65,400. Ivey then threw down the gauntlet with a raise to $202,200, which was enough to put Dwan all in. Dwan called. Ivey showed 8c-10c-6d-5d for top two pair. Durrrr showed 9d-As-Jh-9s for the nut flush draw and a pair of nines. The turn fell the 3h and the river the Qc. Ivey won the $252,185.50 pot with tens up.

While Patrik Antonius was the big overall winner this week, Antonius only had one pot in the top 10 this week. He took the fourth largest pot of the week against durrrr playing $500-$1,000 blind no limit. Antonius made a raise to $3,000 and durrrr made a reraise to $9,500. Antonius made the call. The flop fell 2c-5c-Jd and it was checked around. The turn fell the 8s and Durrrr bet $14,200. Antonius raised to $44,000 and durrrr came over the top all-in for $144,794.50. Antonius made the call. Durrrr showed Js-4s for top pair and Antonius showed 5d-5h for a set of fives. The river card fell the Ad, and Antonius took down a pot worth $308,588.50.

While durrrr was the whipping boy of the pros for most of the week, he did manage to take the second largest pot of the week against Putinovitch. On a flop of 8c-2c-3d, durrrr bet out $6,600 and Putinovitch raised to $19,000. Durrrr raised to $52,500 and Putinovitch moved all in for $186,377.50. Durrrr called and showed 4c-4d. Putinovitch showed Ac-Jc for the nut flush draw. A Ks on the turn and a 6d on the river gave the $329,009 pot to durrrr with a pair of fours. Putinovitch was never able to recover from the loss of this hand. He finished the week down $80,000 over 2 sessions.

The largest pot of the week fittingly pitted Phil Ivey against David Benyamine. Both are known for their ability to play all games well, but this week their clash was in the NL holdem arena. Since durrrr felt that he hadn’t donated enough money to Ivey this week, he decided to play with the two to start the hand. Ivey raised to 3,000 preflop. Benyamine then reraised to $13,000. Durrrr decided to three bet the pot to $32,700. Ivey put in the fourth raise to $83,000 followed by another raise from Benyamine to $133,300. Durrrr finally decided that he had donated enough to this pot and folded. Ivey then moved all in for $221,486. Benyamine called for $18,974 and was all-in. Ivey showed Ad-Ac and Benyamine showed 10s-10h. Both players started rooting for the other to hit their set after the flop of Kh-Qh-Js. As fate would have it, running deuces fell on the turn and river and Ivey won the $337,245 pot with aces up.

How to become millionaire in 3 hours at Full Tilt Poker.

Sunday afternoon, Ilari Shahamies AKA Ziigmund sat in the table Rail Heaven with 200k.
Firstly, Ziigmund begged to Patrik Antonius and Urindanger to lend him 150k for a few hours. They both said NO. Ziigmund then proceeded to take all their money and rise from 200k to 1M.

Action starts:

Patrik Antonius raised pre flop to 3k, and got reraised by Ziigmund to 9k. Antonius called.
The flop showed [Td 3d Ac]. Ziigmund put 18k on the pot, getting slightly called by Antonius.
The turn card was an [8c] and Ziigmund with continuation bets 48k. After thinking for a while, Antonius pushed all in with 200k and got insta called by Ziigmund, who showed [Qs Ah]. Antonius showed [4d 5d] , having a gut shot straight draw and flush draw. He needed a diamond or
a 2 on the river to hit his hand and take the pot to home. River gave a [5s] and Ziigmund 391k with a pair of aces again. Antonius pair of fives.
