Bill Klein of High Stakes Poker Bio

Bill Klein is the type of poker player that most poker professionals love. He has a lot of money, and he really does not care whether or not he wins or loses. He is the truest example of a whale, but he also plays with a purpose.

Klein is one of the amateurs playing on the Season 7 of High Stakes Poker. When asked why he was playing he said that he “always wanted to be a TV star and this was a great way to break in.” He also told Scott that it was a big thrill for him to come in and meet some of the big name poker players that he had never gotten to play with before, such as Doyle Brunson.

There is more to Klein’s motives than just fame and star chasing. Klein regularly donates to charity based on his winnings or losses at the poker table. He said that Barry Greenstein was a hero of his and that Barry’s charitable endeavors influenced him to give as well. However, unlike Greenstein, Klein matches both his winnings and his losses and donates the money to charity. He says, “Don’t let me break even. Either beat me really badly, or let me win really big.”

Based on his lack of a tournament resume, it can be assumed that Klein regularly plays in only high stakes cash games. His best tournament finish was an 18th place finish in the 2008 WPT Doyle Brunson Classic. Klein also cashed in an event during the 2008 World Series of Poker. For his career, he has just over $65,000 in tournament earnings.

Klein should be a fun player to watch at the tables. The money truly does not matter to him, and regardless of whether he wins or he loses, those less fortunate will benefit.
