Two Plus Two no longer free resource for quality strategy posts?

Posted by info on August 13th, 2008

I just got an email from an anonymous moderator with links to screen shots of a Mason Malmuth post in the mod forum on Two Plus Two. The post states basically that the content of Two Plus Two forum that Two Plus Two publishing owns is hurting their book sales, and urges mods to delete stickies. He is encouraging the moderators to make strategy discussion harder to find and harder to come by. His fear is that the posters on the forum know more than his authors and write better than his authors therefore the strategy discussion on the site could hurt his book sales.

Mason Malmuth Post in Moderator forum to limit and delete strategy articles to help ailing book sales.
Mason Malmuth Mod Scandal Post

“Having links to top quality posts may be serving as substitute for book purchases.”

Here is Ed Miller’s response to the alleged pressure he received from Mason Malmuth:

Ed Miller given ultimatum

Ed Miller apparently cornered into this new policy at TWO PLUS TWO by ultimatum given to him by Mason Malmuth to either delete and limit free content or close down the NPA Forums.

This is email from moderator exactly how it was received:
The following was posted today on two plus two but obvuiously it was quickly deleted.

Before it was deleted it was confirmed by other moderators as well as external evidence.

Apparently, Mason Malmuth made a post in the mod forum encouraging the moderators to make strategy discussion harder to find and harder to come by. His fear is that the posters on the forum know more than his authors and write better than his authors therefore the strategy discussion on the site could hurt his book sales.

Additionally, he apparently intimidated and coerced Ed Miller into taking free strategy content off of his own websiet because he believes that it would hurt book sales.

Mason Malmuth — actively going out of his way to sabatoge the quality of his own forum. Does that reall surprise anyone?

Dutch Boyd domain scandal

Posted by info on August 9th, 2008

There is new controversy concerning Dutch Boyd, after all his past issues with his failed poker room, “Pokerspot.com”, where he owed players thousands of dollars and never paid them back.
Image of “pokerspot.com” in year 2000

Pokerspot.com

Well now there is someone in a forum claiming Dutch owes him upwards of $31,000 (just 1 more thousand than the Steve Ware controversy). I have Pm’d the guy several times to get his side of the story and find out whether or not Russel Boyd AKA. Dutch Boyd has paid him for the $31,000 domain. Apparently this situation has been going on for weeks without resolution.
The German man has already contacted his lawyer to serve Dutch Boyd legal papers.

I will try to contact Dutch Boyd or his brother to see if this is true, or if it is maybe sort of mistake. Hopefully there was just an innocent mix up.

Steve Ware has at least come clean and admitted he is wrong. If this is true that Dutch Boyd ripped this guy of for 31k, it’s no laughing matter. It puts another black smear on poker players and poker affiliates. This just doesn’t happen in the poker or gambling world, it happens all over.
Dutch boyd domain scam

As I was finishing this article, I got this message from a person who was allegedly ripped off or had a domain not sell because Dutch Boyd bid on it, won, and did not pay:
Hello xxxxx,

I was in a manic episode and was committed to a mental hospital two days after making the bid for the domain name. I don’t even remember making the bid. I made several attempts at resolving this with Sedo. Bottom line is this… I don’t have $30k. Do what you want to do legally, but you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip and I don’t have it. I probably will in the future and if you’re looking for specific performance, I’d love to buy the domain when I have the money… but honestly, what legal damages can you really claim? I’m not afraid of a lawsuit. I do want this resolved and want you to walk away without hard feelings because I don’t need the bad karma. But I don’t have $30k. I don’t even have close to that. So what do you want to do?

2p2 Mod owes Admo $30,000

Posted by info on August 7th, 2008

A huge scandal on the 2+2 forums has surfaced recently, which involves respected members of the online community. 2+2 moderator, “Cornell Fiji”, whose real name is Steven Ware, has been accused of stealing $30,000 from a fellow veteran 2+2 poster named “Admo”. When Admo first spread the news on the forums, all of his topics were quickly deleted by Steven. This moderator abuse did not last long as word eventually spilled to other parts of the 2+2 forums, beyond Steve’s control. Neverwinpoker.com, another major online poker community, quickly picked up on this information and posted all the dirt on their front page, uncensored and unedited in response to the moderation of Admo’s original topics on 2+2.
The following is a private message from Steve admitting to moderator abuse:
Cornell Fiji aka Steven Ware moderator abuse 2+2
The root of this drama started a few weeks ago around July 15, 2008, when Steven made a thread requesting to trade his cash for online poker money. Admo responded to this thread and a deal was eventually made between the two. After feeling a sense of trust and confidence, Admo decided to send first to Steve and initiate the trade. Admo transferred $30,000 from his Full Tilt Poker account to Steve’s FTP account, “TheMatadorKGB”. After this occurred, Steve was supposed to go to a local bank and deposit $30,000 into Admo’s bank account to finish the deal. Admo did not receive any money in his bank account and grew a little worried. When he tried to contact Steve, he received no reply from private message or text message for two days. Then after three days, Admo received a message from Steve: “well I’m sure you probably guessed what happened…” and it continued on to say that Steve had lost all $30K at the Bellagio in Bobby’s Room and would return to New Jersey to pay back Admo. Admo quickly demanded that Steve send back the funds on FTP, but Steve replied claimed he lost it all to a player named BoostedJ. It is later confirmed that this was a lie and Steve never lost any money to Boosted.
Admo reveals that Steve private messaged him with intentions to repay the lost funds with several options:
(i) Borrow from friends
(ii) Borrow from family
(iii) Sell everything he owns
(iv) Repay via advance from his upcoming book
(v) Repay in a month and a half when he can sell some stock
As of August 5, Admo claims to have not received a single cent from Steve, which prompted Admo to bring attention to this situation on 2+2. Admo has also threatened to file a lawsuit and involve the police in hopes of speeding up the repayment process. Admo has gone as far to create a website which will follow his adventures as he tries to collect his stolen money: stevenwareisathief Dot Com.
He also created a photo edited image poking fun of this scandal:

Steve Sung loses $580k in Pot Limit Omaha

Posted by info on August 6th, 2008

Steve Sung loses $580k in PL Omaha

With the usual heavy action on Full Tilt’s 200/400 Pot limit Omaha tables, six figure downswings are pretty much the norm for players at these limits. Steve Sung is on one of the worst downswings lately. He has lost over $580,000 in PLO sessions last week. On his pokerroad blog, he wrote “Especially when I’m playing the 200/400 plo tired and/or drunk, it can get extremely scary…” Tom Dwan was up over $150k in the beginning of the week, but ended down $50K after 70 hours of play.
