Canadian model turned poker player, Jayde Nicole, was born February 19, 1986. She began modeling for magazines and catalogs at the early age of 6 but unlike most child models who get “lost in the shuffle”, she made her way to the top. After years of modeling, and creating and owning her own modeling agency (A Touch of Class), she was Playboy’s January 2007 playmate of the month and was named Playboy’s 2008 playmate of the year. She was the first Canadian to snag the playmate of the year title in 26 years. In addition, this marvel hottie found the time to start a charity called Lengths for Love which is very similar to the well-known charity “Locks of love” where human hair is donated to make wigs for pediatric patients in need.

So how does a busy model, entrepreneur and philanthropist end up playing poker?? Well, it all started, with love. Jayde Nicole’s then long-time boyfriend, Brody Jenner, who introduced Jayde to the game. Jenner held big poker games every now and then and when he introduced Jayde to the felt, she took to it right away. Shortly thereafter, she met All In Magazine publisher, Kasey Thompson who made her an offer she could not refuse. Thompson offered Jayde the chance to participate in the All In Magazine Project where she would train with a different pro each month and her progress would be reported in the magazine . Jayde took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about her new found love of poker and ran with it. Her first instructor was Jamie Gold, the second month she trained with Bluff Magazine’s Online Player of the Year, David “The Maven” Chicotsky, third up was Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu is one of her favorite players due to the common Canadian background they share and, more importantly, how he plays the game. She likes the fact that he’s not egotistical, like so many other players out there, but simply sweet and fun to be around. You can check out her progress in the project in the All In Magazine pages.

Her poker journey was not always a smooth ride. It’s hard enough to be a good-looking female at a table but throw Playboy Playmate and model into the mix and it can get ugly. When she first sat down at the felt, she wasn’t taken seriously at all. The girls hated her and the guys would always try to help her thinking she didn’t know what she was doing. In late 2009, Jayde participated in PokerStars’ Million Dollar Challenge as a celebrity player where she sat alongside Daniel Negreanu and other pros. In the future, you can expect to find her playing online at pokerstars.net where’s she committed to playing three tournaments every week. She will also be in attendance at the Carribean Challenge in the Bahamas in January 2010.

As for her personal life, she’s recently been linked to 2009 WSOP winner, Joe Cada. Neither have confirmed the rumor but the two were reportedly getting rather close during the PokerStars PCA.

It appears Jayde may have a solid future in the poker world. Time will tell. Until then, we wish her well.
