$200 $400 Pot Limit Omaha, Markus Golser February 24th, 2008Gus Hansen “The Great Dane”, a Full Tilt Poker pro who is known for his aggressive moves sometimes has little card power to back up the pot. Although, he usually takes down pots while being aggressive, sometimes it may be his greatest downfall. Today, he sat down with 20k at a $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha Hi High Stakes poker table. He battled with World Series Of Poker bracelet winner Steve Billirakis and seven other players for two hours. While Gus Hansen sat at the table, others felt the need to play more pots. However, Gus Hansen played typical Gus poker and rivered a full house for 79k then a few hands later he chased a strait draw and caught it for 41k. The thrill of taking down big poker pots got to him and he quickly called a 40k raise with only a pair of threes. Only to see his threes go down by kings. The very next hand Gus called all-in with a strait draw and got busted by two pair. Gus Hansen started with 20k, went up to about 90k, only to lose it all.

Gus Hansen can make something out of nothing as we see him do all the time.
He has guts playing cards most of us would throw away and take chances that most of us wouldn’t.
Sometimes it pays off for him and sometimes it doesn’t, unfortunately for him.
I think when people know you take chances it opens you up to take a few hits like this, but of course Gus can hit back.
High Stakes Poker can hurt you if you are too aggressive all the time. The thing with playing online is you can’t really see your opponents facial expressions and reactions. You lose the ability to get those types of reads.
Another thing is it’s too easy to push all your money all-in with a simple click of the mouse.

Gus Hansen made a few good pots in this high stakes poker session.
I really enjoy watching Gus play because he has the poker knowledge and ability to win with any cards in front of him.
The chances he takes are something that would be scary for me in high stakes poker. Then again, I’m probably not going to play poker at the high stakes tables any time soon.
