Rob Hollink takes down Event #30, $10,000 World Championship Limit Holdem

This years $10k World Championship Limit Holdem was expected to have less players than last years event. Only 143 players showd up initially, with more joining after the start of the tournament. It ended up with 218 players, short in comparison to the 243 player field of 2007. The prize pool reached $2 million with almost half a million dollars paying out at first place ($496,931). The final table got underway after two days and lasted at least 7 hours.

Chris Vitch is Eliminated (Ninth Place, $51,230)
Christ Vitch moved his last chips in on ( Q 9 ) and was called by Aaron Katz, who held ( 3 8 )
Board came ( K 7 4 2 8 ) and Katz would spike a pair on the river to knockout Vitch

Cy Jassinowsky Eliminated in 8th Place ($66,599)
Andy Bloch raised from the button, Rob Hollink reraised from the small blind, Tommy Hang made it 4 bets, and Cy Jassinowsky would call all in. Bloch folded but Hollink called.
Flop came ( K 6 9 ) and Tommy bet out, prompting Rob to fold
Cy showed ace high ( A 2 ) and Tommy showed pocket queens ( Q Q )
Turn and river blanked a five and seven ( 5 7 ) and Cy finished in 8th place

Andy Bloch
Is Eliminated (7th Place, $81,968)
Andy Bloch raised his last chips into the pot with ( J 3 ) and was called by Rob Hollink with ( 9 8 )
Board came ( A 10 2 7 8 ) giving Rob a pair on the river and knocking out Andy in 7th place

Brock Parker Is Eliminated (6th Place, $102,460)
Jerrod Ankenman raised and Brock Parker reraised for the rest of his chips.
Brock showed ( Q 8 ) and was trailing Ankenman’s ( A 9 )
Board came ( 5 10 5 7 4 ) and Brock was out in 6th place

J.C. Tran Has Been Eliminated (5th Place, $128,075)
J.C.Tran raised and Rob Hollink called.
Board came ( Q 7 3 ) all spades and Rob bet out
J.C. calls and turn comes ( K ) spades
Rob bets out again and J.C. calls all in
River comes ( K ) diamond and Rob showed a ( J ) spade for the flush, while J.C. mucks and finishes in 5th place

Aaron Katz Is Eliminated (4th place, $158,813)
Jerrod Ankenman raised and both Aaron Katz, who is all in, and Rob Hollink call.
Board comes ( 4 A 10 5 J ) and somehow Ankenman’s queen high managed to beat Aaron’s hand and send him out in 4th place
Tommy Hang
Tommy Hang is Eliminated (3rd place, $194,674)
Tommy Hang raised from the button and Rob Hollink reraised. Tommy called all in with ( 9 8 ) against Rob’s ( K Q )
Board came ( 7 8 3 Q J ) giving Rob top pair and sending Tommy out in 3rd place
Jerrod Ankenman
Jerrod Ankenman is Eliminated (2nd place, $307,380)
Rob Hollink would cripple Jerrod Ankenman and put him all in after 32 hands.
Jerrod turned over ( 10 7 ) and Rob showed ( A 5 )
Board came ( 4 A 5 ) giving Rob top two pair
Turn came a ( 3 ) giving Jerrod a few outs for a straight
River blanks a ( Q ) and Jerrod is out in 2nd place

Rob Hollink Wins the $10,000 Limit Hold’em World Championship ($496,931)
Rob Hollink is a professional poker player from the Netherlands. He has 2.8 million dollars in tournament cashes to date, including a European Poker Tour title. By winning this event, he has become the first person from the Netherlands to win a WSOP bracelet.
